This

The
First traffic lights are installed in London in the late 19th century, and it
is placed near the Houses of Parliament (London).
These
traffic lights are operated in Gas and Non- Electric. Traffic police officers
have to work in hand to control the vehicles crossing near Bridge Street, Great
George Street and Parliament Street in London.
This
implementation has not been for long-time due to explosion in 1869 when a leak
in gas lines passing under the device exploded, and seriously injured the
police officer operating the lights.
But
during that tenure, they used bells to indicate that signal changes from RED to
GREEN and vice versa. This is taken in consideration and introduced a signal AMBER.
