Let's celebrate other games...! At the Paris 2024 Olympics, India’s athletes are competing across 16 sports disciplines in pursuit of medals and sporting glory. A total of 117 Indian athletes, including five reserves, are participating in 69 medal events. Here are some highlights: Medal Tally: India has won two bronze medals so far in Paris 2024. Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. She secured a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event. Additionally, Manu Bhaker clinched another bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol event alongside Sarabjot Singh. India’s overall Olympic medal count stands at 37 medals to date. Inspiring Moments: Neeraj Chopra, who won gold in men’s javelin throw at Tokyo 2020, is part of the Indian athletics contingent. He aims to contribute to India’s medal tally once again. Other returning Olympic medalists include PV Sindhu (badminton), Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting), and members of the Indian men’s hockey team led by Harmanpreet Singh. Athletes like Avinash Sable, Antim Panghal, Rohan Bopanna, Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairak Rankireddy, Vinesh Phogat, and Aman Sehrawat are eager to add to India’s medal count. India’s best-ever haul was at Tokyo 2020, where they won seven medals, including one gold. He won a bronze medal for India in men's singles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games making him the 1st Asian in Olympic history to win a tennis medal and the only Indian till date. He competed in consecutive Olympics from 1992 to 2016, making him the first Indian and the only tennis player to compete in seven Olympic Games.
